Problem:
The 3-ball setup procedure fails to complete, and I don’t see the word SUCCESS.
Several things to check when the 3Ball Setup fails to complete.
Sometimes the 3rd ball is incorrectly positioned beside the ball at the tee location instead of the ball nearest the screen.
This is the correct configuration as seen through the live camera view.
Note: the live camera view in LMonitor is rotated 90 degrees, with the screen off to the left and the launch monitor off to the right.
3Ball Setup does not complete – no separation between #1 and #2
The 3-ball pattern doesn't look quite correct. The balls appear too close together in the camera's field of view. Here is a screenshot.
Normally there would be some separation visible between the two balls that are 8 inches apart, similar to the picture below:
There are two measurements to check:
- The ball closes to the launch monitor should 32 inches from the center of the base (where the stem comes up). If the launch monitor is further away, it could produce cause this problem.
The launch monitor should be resting on something that is the same height as the turf where the golf balls are resting. If it is lower, it could cause this effect.
Field of View must be clear of objects and natural sunlight
If there is too much noise in the scene, then it can interfere with the 3-ball setup process. In the example below, the noise is coming from at least two sources. There are distant objects in the scene, such as leaves or other small debris. Also, there is sunlight coming in from the side, so the golf balls are not illuminated normally (they are too bright).
