Hi Geoff
Okay, I have hit a handful of five irons from where you left off. I noticed better ball flight for sure.
Glad to hear this.
I think the spin rates are showing more accurately as well, and I will attach some screenshots to show where the asterisks are, so maybe you can explain why they appear sometimes and other times they do not. A few 5I did not show an asterisk... that was a first. But other shots show asterisks.
The Nova launch monitor measures the ball in flight. The measurements are grouped into two categories: | trajectory and spin. Each category has a quality check applied to each shot.
Trajectory:
Includes ball velocity, vertical launch angle, and horizontal launch angle. If the quality check does not pass, then the shot is not displayed in the game. This will sometimes result in a "missed shot" where the golfer hits the ball, but nothing appears in the game.
Spin:
This includes the backspin and side spin. If the quality check does not pass, then an estimated spin is provided based on the club type, trajectory, and ball velocity. The asterisk appears when the spin is estimated.
We continue to work on the spin measurement algorithms, so the estimated spin is less frequent.
I would like to get a set of 10 shots with your 5-iron so we can analyze why the spin is being estimated. They are useful examples for us.
I hit some chips, and at least on the chipping range, everything worked much better, and I saw no ball into the wall effects that I used to be able to replicate easily. Now everything has a nice ball flight, everything down to a pitching wedge when using short chips. So I think that's better at this point now as well.
Thank you for the confirmation
When I went to put in, however, everything seemed to go twice or three times further than previously. Maybe this is the new sensitivity now? But a 40 ft putt took very, very little effort. And a 10-ft putt was almost no swing. If that's accurate now, then okay, I will adapt. But holy cow, is it way more sensitive.
