Question: Why am I missing my driver shots? I hit the ball but it is not tracked or displayed in the golf game.
Answer:
Check the type of tee you are using.
If you are using a light colored basket tee (white, yellow, green) that may appear white in the near infrared spectrum. This might explain the missed driver shots. If you are using a thick white rubber tee, commonly found in outdoor driving ranges, it could interfere with the tracking. If this is the case, we recommend wrapping the barrel of the rubber tee with black non-reflective tape, such as electrical tape.
Here is an example of a light colored Birdee Tee. Notice how the shape of the ball is extended in infrared spectrum in the middle image below. This extension makes it hard for the cameras to identify the golf ball.
Here is an example of a rubber tee. Notice the “shape” of the ball is extended. Wrap the tee in black electrical tape.
Missed Driver Shots for RSG Pro (or Galaxy)
For example, here is a club with a silver/grey club head sitting at address behind the golf ball. The golfer is right-handed, and the direction of the ball flight goes to the left towards the hitting screen.
Here is the same club showing how the image has been processed by the machine vision algorithm. Notice how the glare on the top of the silver club head appears to be approximately the same size as the golf ball
Immediately after the club hits the golf ball, the ball is in motion heading to the left. The club head is momentarily at the same position where the ball was located on the tee. The camera may mistakenly think the glare from the club head is the ball and therefore incorrectly conclude the ball has not yet left the tee.
This won't always cause a missed shot, so there are probably some shots mixed in with some good shots.
