Question:
What is the best practice when I have a ceiling that is higher than 10” 6” mounting height?
Answer:
In this example, we’ll talk about 11’ 0” ceiling height. RSG Pro and Projector are two separate topics.
- RSG Pro
There are a couple of approaches to hang the RSG Pro from a ceiling higher than 10' 6". A 10' 0" height is the sweet spot. We have customers who use a standard projector mount to suspend the RSG Pro. Take a look at the bracket dimensions on page 5 of the attached document. The upper bracket is separated from the RSG Pro. It has slots where you can attach it to a projector mount. If you search Amazon for "projector mounts," you can find a variety of options. If your ceiling is 11' 0" high, then you would only need to come down about 12"
For example: Amazon.com : projector mount ceiling
Be sure to check the height of the mount. Some projector mounts will come down 6" and others are longer. 6" would be sufficient for an 11' ceiling because the mounting height would then be 10' 6".
Setback distances are also detailed in the attached document on page 3 (33.8" setback from the tee location).
An alternative is to use two 12" long 1.0" pipes with two sets of flanges to secure the top flange to the ceiling and then the lower flange to the upper bracket of the RSG Pro. This is a good option for ceiling heights higher than 11'. For example, here is a 13' tall ceiling with 3'long pipes to mount the RSG Pro at 10' height.
2. Projector
The projector can be suspended from the ceiling using similar approaches to suspending the RSG Pro.
If you are using a short-throw projector, then it will likely be mounted in front of the RSG Pro closer to the screen. Take care to ensure the projector is low enough that the projected image is under the top surface of the enclosure so it projects onto the screen. If you are not using a short-throw projector (this is most common), then the projector will be behind the RSG Pro, further from the screen. In this case, you want to ensure the projector is low enough such that the RSG Pro does not block the projected image, and you want it high enough to minimize the head and shoulders of the golfers blocking the image.
It's a good practice to turn on the projector and hold it in your hands while aimed at the screen. You can then move the projector back and forth to locate the convenient distance with the best coverage. Find the distance where the height and width of the screen are filled optimally with the projector image.
Before you do this exercise, the project and the PC display must be set to the same or very similar aspect ratio. You want this aspect ratio to be the same or similar to the white impact screen in the enclosure.
On the projector, use the remote control to find the location where you can specify a 4:3 aspect ratio. This varies by projector, but it may be found on the “Display” settings or “Display Mode”.
